Arranged Mad-Rage!

Having hit 30 and finding myself single and more importantly under pressure from the mother, I finally signed up to certain matrimonial websites - reputed to help you find the 'good' 'Indian' brides and grooms. Most of the girls in the advertisement look straight out of a Saans-Bahu serial (Indian soaps on mother-in-law & daughter-in-law dynamics where the ladies wear very heavy jewellery, make-up and ornate clothes even while sleeping)...rather unreal and unlike what I or any of my photos look like....well that's besides the point...

Soon enough I start meeting these 'unique' (for want of a better terminology) men....

An extract from one such meeting is presented below:

Meeting Mr A:

His vital stats: Doctor - more precisely surgeon - 35yrs - 5ft 10 inch - clean shaven head (which is irrelevant, but felt like revealing this vital stat...)

A: So this MBA - is it worth anything?

Me: I should think so, depends what you want to afterwards

A: Yeah but does the UK MBA it have any value in America.... (bearing in mind this conversation is taking place in the UK)

Me: (Straightening up and paying attention on suddenly realising I had been appointed the MBA representative for UK!!!!) Ummm well it should, but America has it's own MBA so I'm not so sure.....(still contemplating....)

A: What about the Middle East?

Me: Yes the UK MBA definitely has a lot of value in the Middle East - a lot of students come to do MBAs from the Middle East..

A: Ya that's because all the people in the Middle East are stupid!

Me: (Taken aback...but trying to keep a straight face and thinking of a sensible way to respond)..
No, I know some very bright students from the Middle East....

A: Oh no, they are idiots - they don't know how to do anything!

Me: (Still surprised at supposedly 'educated' and 'well qualified' surgeon's ludicrous blanket statements) I don't think a whole race can be labelled as intelligent or unintelligent - it could really sound racist.. (carefully selecting my words)...

A: Oh no, I'm not being racist - I'm just saying they are all dumb.. You have become like English people... (Become??? Reader - please bear in mind, this man is meeting me for the first time!)

Me: It's not about being English, all nations and races have some very intelligent people and some who are not so intelligent, just like India or here.... calling people from any race stupid is really not right....

A: No, I'm not being racist, I'm being regionalist!

Me: *Smirk* (Thinking: Yeah makes all the difference!! Wondering - how long this will last and pretty much making up my mind not to see this guy again....)

A: You have become very English - I don't want to be like English people, I want to be Indian...

(Since when did calling other races 'stupid' become the Indian thing to do????!!)

Me: I'm being politically correct............................................

After that my memory fades..................................................

Needless to say - friends, you will not see him anywhere near my wedding venue!

Disclaimer: This post is no judgement on the capability and intelligence levels of people from the Middle East or any other part of the world!

Well, what can I say about the surgeon? That he is a narrow-minded person who doesn't accept anyone else but his own race and people? If he doesn't like the English, what is he doing in the UK? Why doesn't he move to the country of his origin? To the country of his parents? Or perhaps his own home if he was born in India?
Unfortunately people like him exist everywhere and can be found in any other nation too.
In my opinion it is wrong to live in a foreign country and behave like a foreigner, i.e. not accept and adapt to the life, habits and traditions of the country you live in, be against its population, think of yourself as a far better person and sometimes refuse to speak and/or learn the foreign language.
You are there because of your own choice. Nobody forces you to stay. Just leave if you don't like it.

I wonder if this is the same guy I had a chat with. I too remember similar comments of the guy telling 'you have become too English'. ofcourse I never had a second conversation. But let me tell you this is nothing compared to what I faced. On the very 1st converstion he offers to pay me for the call from UK to US and then talks about he sleeping with his mom and many more.....
So dear keep looking and jot these down so that we can have some fun reading. If you like I too can give few to add up with my experiences

@ Theo - He doesn't even accept his own race Theo - he is a 'star doctor' who I think is rather prejudiced! lol!

@Sush - I don't think it's the same guy - this guy lives in UK. But the guy you spoke to sounds really disgusting - sleeping with his mum????!!!!!

I have some more anecdotes - will write them up soon. Yes, please share yours - would love to read about yours!!

He seems to think of himself of a superior human being, right?

Oh how much I can't stand such people!

My experience with some Greek ladies is a bit different than yours.
The ladies here (thank God not all of them), look for a man to marry and have children with. They grow up with this ideal, this dream, to become a wife and mum and produce grandchildren to their parents.
Of course the man has to be good looking, have a good job like a doctor, a lawyer or some sort of a leading director in a multi-national company, earn well, must own a new and flashy car, must have a property, a university degree, always pay the bills at the restaurants and bars, pick them up from home and deliver them safely back, he has to be smart, cool, funny, and be a macho-hero and bla bla.

What do the ladies have to offer? Their beauty. Nothing more.
Where can I throw up please?

I had various dates with such kind of brainless and superficial women, but thank God I found a really nice one who doesn't give a d*** about all the above mentioned.

@ Theo - Haha, sounds like you've dated some 'pretty' demanding ladies! [Pun intended ;)]
Well, it's good to meet the challenging ones, so we can appreciate a really good person, when they finally come along! I'm very pleased for you - now that you've found the one. Wish you two a lifetime of happiness together! :)

Fantastic piece of candid expression my dear friend... I'd rather would love to speak with you at large and not make comments publicly for all the right reasons... in short it was marvellous.. and while it has been a real laughter riot or a treat to read about the so truly and maddening rages...(any woman with the right sense of logic would react the same way to those self proclaimed 'educates').... I sure can feel what a torture it was to put up with such conversations.... I am happy and confirmed that you would make the right choice lady.... My best wishes, love and prayers always.... keep posting the eye openers! ;)

I loved the way you expressed yourself. Specially, "I start meeting these 'unique' (for want of a better terminology) men..."
Please keep us posted with these unique (unpleasant) meetings and not to forget your anecdotes.
